The Cape Eland, also known as the Livingston's Eland, is the world's largest antelope and is native to South Africa. Adult males have been known to weight as much as a ton. The Eland's horns are thick and tightly spiraled, growing up to 25 inches in females and to 50 inches in males.
The Cape Eland is prized for its meat. Many say it tastes like high quality beef. It's no cow. The Eland is surprisingly fast and agile, which it uses to avoid predators. This makes it a formidably game animal to hunt.
